Job Coaching

Once a client is hired, he/she is assigned a Job Coach who visits the job site every day for the first 2 weeks to facilitate communication and assist with orientation and training. When the client is secure in his job Lexington staff lessen the time spent at the job site. We remain connected with the client and the job site and visit twice each month to see if any additional support is needed.  Lexington staff is fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) and we offer ASL classes to co-workers and managers at the job site.

Our Job Developers work closely with new employers to dispel any preconceived perceptions of deafness, and provide the employer with awareness material. Job Coaches work with employers on an on-going basis to guide them through communication, to create an atmosphere of acceptance and respect in the workplace and any other issue that may arise during our client’s employment.
